Who qualifies for the Professional Gateway?

All holders of a Master’s Degree in Accounting.

How does it work?

Eligible individuals are required to take the CIMA Gateway Exam (also known as the Management Level Case Study exam). The CIMA Gateway Exam:

  • is a three hour long computer based case study exam
  • is based on pre-seen material which is released on CIMA connect six weeks before the exam (we will go through this with you in preparation for the exam)
  • is available in four windows a year (February, May, August and November) and will assess knowledge and competencies covered in the Management level of the CIMA Professional Qualification. We will be preparing you for the November exam sitting.

Once you have passed the CIMA Gateway Exam, you will be granted 11 exemptions that include subjects from the certificate level, operational and management level exams, allowing you to progress straight to the strategic level of the CIMA Professional Qualification.

Upon passing the exam, you will be awarded with an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting.

What is the strategic level made up of?

The strategic level is made up of 3 subjects; Strategic Management, Risk Management & Financial Strategy. These are examined through computer based examinations which can be written at any time and results are instant.

Upon completion of the 3 modules, you will write the Strategic Case Study which will be based on content learnt from the 3 modules.

For most Masters degrees, these modules would already have been covered so what you will learn may not be new at all.

How long will it take me to complete the full CIMA qualification through this route?

It should take you as little as 6 months. We conduct lectures on weekend and we meet two weekends a month.

What is this exciting news I am hearing concerning ICAZ/CIMA Memorandum of understanding?

CIMA have signed an MoU with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe(ICAZ) that allows CIMA Members to write just one Initial Test of Competence Exam (ITC) for them to become ICAZ members. This means that after you become a CIMA member, you will be one examination away from becoming a Chartered Accountant and member of ICAZ, giving you the privilege of  using the designation CA(Z). The ICAZ membership is subject to assessment of practical experience earned.

I am interested, so whats next?
